Ge Jin is a human factor researcher at IDEO Shanghai. He’s going to talk about how to translate human insights from ethnographic research into impactful design and how to use designer tools in ethnographic research.
Ge Jin is a PhD candidate in Communication at University of California-San Diego. His research concerns how people incorporate virtual and digital into everyday life. He was the first researcher to uncover the real money trade of virtual goods in online games in China. His documentary film Gold Farmers have been widely quoted by academics and journalists. He also regularly writes articles on topics like China’s emerging middle class and online memes for China Economic Review, Financial Times China, China Business Network, BBC and CNNGo.
