Sara M. Watson will discuss how we can begin to understand the data and algorithms that shape our world.
Sara is a technology critic and a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. Her work addresses how we are learning to live with our personal data, as more technologies like wearable sensors and the Internet of Things tie our bodies and physical environment to data.
Sara holds an MSc in the Social Science of the Internet with distinction from the Oxford Internet Institute. Her award winning thesis examined the personal data interests of the Quantified Self community. Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, Wired, Harvard Business Review, and Slate.
